Should Miracles be a Part of Our Survival Plans? (Part 5)

In various seasons throughout history, the Lord has highlighted different healing avenues. Sometimes, it has been just prayer. Or anointing with oil. Or laying hands on the sick by elders. Or faith. Or the spiritual gifts.

This does not mean the other healing avenues do not work during the Lord’s times of emphasis. It just means that it is much easier to be healed with the avenue being highlighted by the Lord.

During the Healing Revival of 1947 – 1958, the Lord emphasized the spiritual gifts. For example, Oral Roberts and Kathryn Kuhlman healed sick people through their powerful gifts of healing. Jack Coe healed paralyzed people by throwing them out of wheelchairs through the gift of working of miracles. William Branham used the prophetic gifts of word of knowledge and word of wisdom.

The gifts varied from preacher to preacher, but it made little difference because thousands were healed during the Healing Revival.

Yet, by 1958, sick people no longer filled the tents of the healing preachers because the Lord had removed His emphasis on the spiritual gifts for healing. Since that season of time, the spiritual gifts may still provide healing, but not in such a grand manner.

Okay, God heals people. This cannot be denied, but if you need healing, it’s best to know if the Lord is highlighting a healing avenue and then use that one.

In my e-Book, What’s In It For Me, I write about such an avenue:

How blessed is he who considers the helpless; The Lord will deliver him in a day of trouble. The Lord will protect him and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies.  The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed; in his illness, You restore him to health. (Psalm 41:1-3)

The Hebrew word sakal is translated into the English word consider, which more nearly means to think about the helpless and then be drawn toward a course of action to help them.

The course of action could be prayer, fasting, or giving money to the poor, needy, and helpless. The choice is yours, but I recommend all three.

In Part 1, I asked the question: why did the Lord heal my knees?

For 25 years, I have carried this revelation about considering the helpless in my spirit. I believe with the healing of my knees, the Lord revealed that now is the time to boldly proclaim this avenue of healing as being open for all to use.
