If a panhandler stopped me on the street to beg for money, he probably chose the wrong man, unless he has a credit card reader app on his iPhone. You see, I hardly ever have cash in my billfold anymore, just a plastic ATM card.
From observing customers at stores, I would guess this is true of a majority of people.
Now, let’s say a major calamity, such as an earthquake, hits your city. You are somewhat prepared, but realize you need a prescription drug. You trot over to the pharmacy but soon learn all ATMs and electronics are down. The pharmacist will only accept cash, no checks or credit cards accepted.
So, remember: when you plan and prepare for calamities, keep at least two weeks of cash on hand. Plus, small bills (1s, 5s, and 10s) are best.
